Descripción
Sumario:Based on Variationist Sociolinguistics, this paper deals the aspiration of the fricative /v/, in an intervocalic position (ta/h/ a ~ ta /v/ a), in the popular speech of Fortaleza. We aim to analyze the linguistic and/or extralinguistic variables that condition the aspiration of /v/. We verified that the following variables are relevant, in this same order of importance: phonic group (words with /ava/); classes of words (others and verbs); schooling (0-4 years); frequency of use (very usual term, usual term and extremely usual term); stylistic monitoring (DID surveys); age group (50 years or more); subsequent phonological context ([a], [ɐ]), [u]); sex (men); morphological status of the segment (grammatical morpheme) and dimension of the word (disyllables).
