| Sumario: | Based on the Variationist Sociolinguistics model, we analyse the influence of linguistic and social factors on the use of verbs ter and haver meaning “existence”. On this purpose, we use a speech corpus of 18 informants from the project Português Oral Culto de Fortaleza – PORCUFORT, in wich is provided the analysis of seven linguistic variables and two social variables. The results of the statistical analysis revealed that, from 683 occurrances, 81% use ter and 19% use haver. Relevant factors regarding the use of haver are: verbal form, SN semantic trait , age range, gender, verb repetition in the same statement, position of the SN in relation to the verb and presence versus absence of elements before the verb. |
