Descripción
Sumario:The objective of this research is to empirically analyze the effect of commercial bank credit on the welfare of individuals. It is understood that there is no social utility in a banking system that does not have the capacity to grant credits that promote the economic growth of a country and the improvement of the living conditions of its inhabitants. The study covers the period from 2004 to 2016. In this research, a formal review is made of three indicators related to bank credit and welfare economics, and the Human Development Index (HDI) is taken as our main indicator. The empirical analysis consists of two panel data models at the state level: one static, with the methodology of Instrumental Variables (IV); and the other dynamic, with the ArellanoBover(1995)/Blundell-Bond(1998).). The results of both models suggest that commercial bank credit has a positive effect on Mexico's HDI at state level from 2004 to 2016. However, in the dynamic model the first lag of banking loans had a negative effect on the human development of Mexican estates.
