Descripción
Sumario:The Jamaica (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) is an annual plant grown in tropical and subtropical regions of the world. The interest in this plant has focused on its pharmaceutical potential, since it is one of the plants with greater benefits and is used in traditional medicine from different countries. As a result of their importance, varieties with desirable characteristics that require official registration have been generated, so they must be clearly described through their characteristics in order to consider whether they meet the criteria of distinction, homogeneity and stability. At present, the International Union for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants (UPOV) does not have a technical guide to describe varieties of Jamaica, however, a guide proposal has been made through previous works on cultivation, which should validate their descriptors.
