Sumario:The goal of our research focused on analyzing how leisure time has occurred within families with a child/children with special educational needs (NEAE in Spanish). The children were enrolled in elementary school during the lockdown period of 2020 experienced in Spain. We followed a descriptive-comparative methodology based on an ad hoc questionnaire, answered by 127 families online. Our results evince the incidence of work conditions and the level of conflict resolution perceived in regards to family leisure. They also reveal certain features characteristic of families with a NEAE child/children. They rate the value of sharing leisure time as lower when compared to families with children without NEAE. Our conclusions highlight leisure as a source of family health and leisure, as well as the importance of investing in inclusive community services so as to provide healthy quality family leisure time.
