Cyclic AMP and Vfr increase the virulence of A. baumannii [Dataset]
Virulence assay was performed three independent times using 30 G. mellonella larvae in total per A. baumannii strain or control (PBS). 48 h post-infection, 100% of the larvae in the control group survived. G. mellonella infected with wild-type (WT) AB5075 had survival rates of 40% while 63% and 77%...

| Sumario: | Virulence assay was performed three independent times using 30 G. mellonella larvae in total per A. baumannii strain or control (PBS). 48 h post-infection, 100% of the larvae in the control group survived. G. mellonella infected with wild-type (WT) AB5075 had survival rates of 40% while 63% and 77% of the larvae survived infection with ΔcavA mutant and vfr::Tn mutant respectively. Survival rates of larvae infected with the complemented ΔcavA+cavA and vfr::Tn+vfr strains were decreased to 40% and 27% respectively. Strains bearing empty miniTn7 vector (EV) were used as controls. In the interest of visual clarity, the X axis (Time) was set to start at 15 h. Data analysis with Log rank (Mantel-Cox) test indicated p<0.05 for the comparisons of WT vs ΔcavA and ΔcavA EV vs ΔcavA+cavA and p<0.01 for the comparisons of WT vs vfr::Tn and vfr:Tn EV vs vfr::Tn+vfr. |
