| Sumario: | [EN] The article is presented with a dual purpose: on the one hand, to highlight Nebrija’s relevance in the Americas, since his influence makes it possible to identify the lexical innovations recorded in the bilingual vocabularies of Spanish and Amerindian languages from the 16th and early 17th centuries; and on the other hand, to demonstrate the value of these dictionaries as sources for lexicographic documentation. The study focuses on the lexical innovations under the letter B, which, by appearing in these repertoires, anticipate the earliest documentation date found in the historical dictionaries or thesaurus of the Spanish language. These lexical innovations include both Americanisms and derivatives or compounds already common in the speech of the time; all were first lemmatized in the Spanish-Amerindian repertoires before appearing in other dictionaries published in Europe |
