| Sumario: | This study aims to perform a brief comparative analysis of the past perfect tense of the indicative mood in the Portuguese and Spanish languages, focusing on the nuances expressed by this (these) verb tense(s) in contrast with the meanings that derive from possible translations into Portuguese. To support this analysis, we have mapped, among other authors, definitions found in the works of Bosque (2009), Matte Bon (1998), Gómez Torrego (2002); and Charaudeau; Darbord; Pottier (1994) concerning verb tenses in Spanish, and Azeredo (2010), Cunha; Cintra (1992), and Bechara (2009) with respect to the study of tenses in Portuguese. In this article, we also address the notion of temporal deixis and seek to reflect on the role of grammatical study in linguistic education. |
