| Sumario: | Using microdata from the continuous national household sample survey (PNADC), some characteristics of the distribution of per capita household income (PCHI) in 2023 in Brazil and in six regions are presented. Next, using also original PNAD data, the evolution of this distribution from 1995 to 2023 is analysed. By decomposing the PCHI in 11 components, a more detailed analysis of the distribution in 2022 and 2023 is carried out. Next, the distributions of earnings between economically active persons (EAP) and between occupied persons (OCP) are analysed, showing how variations in the unemployment rate cause different behaviours in the evolution of measures of central tendency and inequality of these distributions. It can be seen, for example, that from 2022 to 2023, the Gini index of OCP increases, but the Gini index of EAP decreases. This is important to correctly assess what conditioned the stability of the Gini index of the per capita household income distribution from 2022 to 2023. |
