Preliminary study of polybasite leaching: effect of temperature
The present study evaluated the effect of temperature on the leaching of Ag and Cu contained in tailings, implementing the Thiourea-Oxalate system. The chemical analysis performed by the AAS technique indicates that the sample contains an average of 41 g t-1 Ag and 111.5 g t-1 Cu. On the other hand,...

| Sumario: | The present study evaluated the effect of temperature on the leaching of Ag and Cu contained in tailings, implementing the Thiourea-Oxalate system. The chemical analysis performed by the AAS technique indicates that the sample contains an average of 41 g t-1 Ag and 111.5 g t-1 Cu. On the other hand, the mineralogical analysis carried out by XRD and SEM-EDS revealed the mineral species that contains silver and copper, corresponding to the polybasite sulfosalt ((Ag,Cu)16Sb2S11). For the leaching experiments, 0.1 mol L-1 of Thiourea (CH4N2S) and Potassium Oxalate (K2C2O4·H2O) were used, the proposed of temperature range was 20, 25, 30 and 35 °C. The results show the highest recoveries of silver and copper at 20°C being 80% and 39% respectively. |
