Sumario:Perception is a process in which stimuli are organized and interpreted, that’s why it can be affected for several factors. The patient´s selfperception plays an important role in treatment decisions and in the aesthetic dental professional judging. If the malocclusion is very visible, it can cause a higher aversion, affecting and interfering in their interest to correct the disturbance and not only reduce the facial attractiveness, and also pose a higher risk of psychological disadvantage and adverse social reactions that may affect the individual´s well-being. With that, an effect of malocclusion on quality of life is psychosocial, rather than functional limitations that malocclusion can cause. Because of this, malocclusions can significantly influence in the other´s perception, their behavior and their interact intentions, and sometimes causing bulling episodes. The differences between orthodontic treated and untreated people are mainly related to socioemotional aspects, such as smiling and laugh.
