Descrição
Resumo:Microdontia of maxillary lateral incisors can cause alterations of the dental arch. The microdoncia of maxillary lateral incisors affects patients with class III malocclusions more frequently, Having interdental spaces in the dental arch may cause the canine rash guide to be lost. Material and Methods: the study universe was 1345 study models of orthodontic treatment. The sample was 120 study models, 40 of each angle maloclusion. The Binder method was used to diagnose the microdoncia of lateral maxillary incisors. Results: In Class I malocclusion, a prevalence of 7.95% was found, For Class II malocclusion of 12.38% and Class III malocclusion of 4.4%. Statistical differences were found between the mesiodistal size of the lateral incisors with microdontia in the malocclusions, The size of the lateral incisors was compared with microdoncia and without microdontia of each malocclusion and no statistical differences were found in class III malocclusion. Conclusion: A higher percentage of teeth with microdontia was found in Class II malocclusion than in the other malocclusions. In class III malocclusion the smaller mesiodistal size was found for maxillary lateral incisors with microdontia.
