Raising the question of permanent interrogation as a condition for the possibility of discipline allows contributing to the current debate to elucidate, from a broad but demanding perspective, the problems of its future in the interpretative framework of the social and temporal.En el presente artículo se realiza una reflexión en torno al quehacer del sociólogo en la actualidad. Para ello se tomaron como ejes de análisis tres preguntas fundamentales: el por qué, el cómo y el para qué de la sociología, pues consideramos que la interrogación permanente sobre estas cuestiones es lo que permite la construcción del ser sociólogo.  Plantear la cuestión de la interrogación permanente como condición de posibilidad de la disciplina permite contribuir al debate actual para dilucidar, desde una óptica amplia pero exigente, los problemas de su porvenir en el marco interpretativo de lo social y temporal.No presente artigo, faz-se uma reflexão sobre o trabalho do sociólogo atual. Para isso, eles foram tomadas como os eixos de análise três questões fundamentais: o porquê, o como e o por que da sociologia, porque consideramos que o interrogatório permanente sobre essas questões é o que permite a construção do sociólogo.
