| Summary: | Introduction - Introduction: Globally, it is estimated that there are 1130 million people with arterial hypertension, most of them living in low and middle income countries, which is one of the main causes of premature deaths in the world, according to statistics from the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2015 showed that one in four men suffers from arterial hypertension, while in women, one in five. Objective: To identify the level of therapeutic adherence in older adults diagnosed with hypertension. Methodology: A cross-sectional, descriptive, quantitative study was carried out in 129 older adults with a diagnosis of systemic arterial hypertension. The information was obtained through a sociodemographic data questionnaire and through the Therapeutic Adherence Scale instrument. Results or Findings: Female sex predominated (69.0%), (79.1%) were in regular adherence, while only (20.9%) had good adherence. Conclusions: Important results were obtained from this study, which can have a great impact on the development of nursing knowledge in the approach to this population. |
