Descripción
Sumario:This paper briefly analyses a series of Nahuatl sociolinguistic topics dealing with crucial political, ideological and pragmatic aspects of this tongue. These include the political economy that disputes the representation of its verbal culture. Contrasting different antagonistic political postures, regarding, among others, conflicting ethnographic or linguistic analyses, this allows highlighting divergent interpretations of the same facts by linguists and anthropologists vis-à-vis speakers own interpretations. All this encompasses uses, ideologies and language policies in diachronic as well as synchronic perspec- tives in Nahuatl written and oral forms.
