Descripción
Sumario:In this paper, various sources written in Nahuatl from both the colonial and contemporary periods are reviewed. By contrasting these sources with their oral history, the aim is to understand the effect of the influence of Spanish on this language, knowing that written discourse is less prone to the emergence of influences from one language over another because, unlike oral discourse, in writing process, users exercise greater monitoring of their linguistic production. It is hoped that this work will identify the most outstanding phenomena both of the influence of Spanish on Nahuatl and of this language on Spanish. At the same time, this work will make it possible to identify crucial issues for the continuity and persistence of Nahuatl and, by extension, of any threatened language.
