Starting from a review of the rules and a description of the facts, are then analyzed the representations and practices organized by the government sector as well as the opposition, postulating that was the possibility or not to control the state apparatus and the associated resources, which conditioned the strategies used by each of the fractions in dispute.El objetivo del trabajo es analizar las elecciones de gobernador de la provincia de Mendoza de 1873 —que dan cuenta de una división de las élites prácticamente inédita desde 1852— a fin de mostrar las estrategias desplegadas por las dirigencias en su afán por obtener la victoria.
