Sumario:In this work we present an initial research on the practices of small and medium-sized enterprises in Jalisco, Mexico regarding policies on their sustainable energy management. Based on the philosophy of change and sustainable organizational development, corporate social responsibility, the environmental field of sustainable development and the demands of the global market. A self developed survey was applied to the owners or managers of SMEs on Sustainable Development practices focused on energy management,on a representative sample of more than 200 SME in theregion. The first outcomes found were that a third of the SMEs interviewed carry out sustainable energymanagement practices in a systematic way, in addition to finding an association with those SMEs that carry out these practices and in turn implement their own research and development, apply innovation, inaddition to they belong to an external group and a high level of education of the entrepreneur.
