(English) Urban crises reveal the true essence of our cities: their ability to collapse or, on the contrary, to sublimate themselves in adversity. Floods, economic shocks, pandemics — all tremors that expose every fragility but, paradoxically, can also unleash transformative potential. While resilience works to restore a fragile status quo (Davoudi, 2012), antifragility (Taleb, 2012) is bolder: it draws raw energy from each crisis to reinvent itself and rise to a higher level of evolution. This research demonstrates how this paradigm, when applied to the urban fabric, can become a new operational strategic lever: rather than enduring the crisis, the city exploits it, crushes it, and extracts from it a new force, a “fuel” for mutation and sustainable growth. Following a critical analysis of existing post-crisis management approaches, fifteen fundamental theoretical principles were identified and empirically confronted with the reality of twenty-seven cities that have experienced major crises. Six of them demonstrated an exemplary urban trajectory, revealing how key mechanisms (strategic diversity, proactive innovation, systemic anticipation, active prevention, sustainable resilience) are articulated to metabolize uncertainty. By breaking down the structures and dynamics at work, this research reveals the "DNA" of urban antifragility and leads to the formalization of a conceptual framework equipped with an operational toolkit built around proven and quantifiable dynamics. This tool provides: (i) a precise diagnosis based on 75 performance indicators, making it possible to rigorously assess the capacity of cities to adapt and transform in the face of crises; (ii) a strategic roadmap to "reprogram" the urban trajectory, articulated around priority axes and concrete actions facilitating optimal evolution; (iii) a register of best practices, empirically proven in antifragile cities, used to strengthen public policies and guide implementation guidelines. The full-scale experiment carried out in Tel Aviv made it possible to confront the model with reality on the ground. A multi-level survey system was deployed, combining in-depth interviews, strategic round tables and targeted surveys with local stakeholders. This evaluation validated the conceptual robustness and operational relevance of the proposed framework, highlighting its ability to provide a precise diagnosis, a coherent strategic orientation and concrete levers of action to accelerate the transformation of the city. The analysis of in situ returns led to a refinement of the model, consolidating its applicability and facilitating its transposability to other urban contexts. This conceptual framework and its strategic toolkit establish an evolutionary dynamic where each disruption becomes a lever for transformation. By reintegrating uncertainty as a driver of adaptation and innovation, they are profoundly reconfiguring urban strategies, providing cities with the means to anticipate, absorb and transcend crises. This approach paves the way for an anti-fragile urbanity, where the unexpected ceases to be a constraint and becomes a vector of sustainable and differentiated growth. |

Inundacions, xocs econòmics, pandèmies — totes són sacsejades que exposen cada fragilitat però que, paradoxalment, també poden desencadenar un potencial transformador. Mentre la resiliència treballa per restaurar un statu quo fràgil (Davoudi, 2012), l’antifragilitat (Taleb, 2012) és més agosarada: extreu energia en brut de cada crisi per reinventar-se i elevar-se a un nivell superior d’evolució. Aquesta recerca demostra com aquest paradigma, quan s’aplica al teixit urbà, pot esdevenir una nova palanca estratègica operativa: en lloc de suportar la crisi, la ciutat l’explota, la tritura i n’extreu una nova força, un “combustible” per a la mutació i el creixement sostenible. Després d’una anàlisi crítica dels enfocaments existents de gestió postcrisi, es van identificar quinze principis teòrics fonamentals i es van confrontar empíricament amb la realitat de vint-i-set ciutats que han viscut crisis importants. Sis d’elles van demostrar una trajectòria urbana exemplar, revelant com es poden articular mecanismes clau (diversitat estratègica, innovació proactiva, anticipació sistèmica, prevenció activa, resiliència sostenible) per metabolitzar la incertesa. Descomponent les estructures i dinàmiques en joc, aquesta recerca revela l’“ADN” de l’antifragilitat urbana i condueix a la formalització d’un marc conceptual dotat d’una caixa d’eines operativa construïda al voltant de dinàmiques provades i quantificables. Aquesta eina proporciona: (i) un diagnòstic precís basat en 75 indicadors de rendiment, que permet avaluar rigorosament la capacitat de les ciutats per adaptar-se i transformar-se davant de les crisis; (ii) una fulla de ruta estratègica per “reprogramar” la trajectòria urbana, articulada al voltant d’eixos prioritaris i accions concretes que facilitin una evolució òptima; (iii) un registre de bones pràctiques, empíricament provades en ciutats antifràgils, utilitzades per reforçar les polítiques públiques i guiar les directrius d’implementació. L’experiment a gran escala realitzat a Tel Aviv va permetre confrontar el model amb la realitat sobre el terreny. Es va desplegar un sistema d’enquestes multinivell, combinant entrevistes en profunditat, taules rodones estratègiques i enquestes dirigides a agents locals. Aquesta avaluació va validar la solidesa conceptual i la rellevància operativa del marc proposat, destacant la seva capacitat per proporcionar un diagnòstic precís, una orientació estratègica coherent i palanques d’acció concretes per accelerar la transformació de la ciutat. L’anàlisi de les dades in situ va conduir a un perfeccionament del model, consolidant-ne l’aplicabilitat i facilitant-ne la transposició a altres contextos urbans. Aquest marc conceptual i la seva caixa d’eines estratègica estableixen una dinàmica evolutiva on cada pertorbació es converteix en una palanca de transformació. Reintegrant la incertesa com a motor d’adaptació i innovació, estan reconfigurant profundament les estratègies urbanes, proporcionant a les ciutats els mitjans per anticipar, absorbir i transcendir les crisis. Inundaciones, choques económicos, pandemias: todos son temblores que exponen cada fragilidad pero que, paradójicamente, también pueden desatar un potencial transformador. Mientras que la resiliencia trabaja para restaurar un statu quo frágil (Davoudi, 2012), la antifragilidad (Taleb, 2012) es más audaz: extrae energía bruta de cada crisis para reinventarse y elevarse a un nivel superior de evolución. Esta investigación demuestra cómo este paradigma, cuando se aplica al tejido urbano, puede convertirse en una nueva palanca estratégica operativa: en lugar de soportar la crisis, la ciudad la explota, la aplasta y extrae de ella una nueva fuerza, un “combustible” para la mutación y el crecimiento sostenible.
