Descripción
Sumario:[EN] The project was aimed at addressing a 'requirement' or 'need' of a development institution - in this case the Centre for Human Rights 'Fray Bartolome de Las Casas' A.C. (Frayba) as prometer and UNIVERSID~D POLlTECNIC!.\ DE V!.\LENCIJ.\ ' defender of Human Rights (HH.RR.) in Chiapas (Mexico). This institution fights for the autodetermination of the local people from Mexico, their autonomy, cultural diversity and their right for a dignified life by vindicating in its actions and interventions the duty of the S tate of protecting, respecting and guaranteeing Human Rights. The 'need' identLfied relates to increasing the information the Centre receives through claims of violation of Human Rights and improve its fil ing system- so that it can ¡;;ubsequently be analysed and used for decision making. For that purpose the Centre uses its own data storage system (Sistema de Almacenamiento de datos - SCD). Within the system, tllere is an intervention tool ca lled the Immedíate Action Team (Equipo de Atención Immediata- EAI) - that col lects the information extracted from claims into a data base, subsequently stored, analysed and if necessary modified. One of the questions leading to this project is the confusion prompted by the lack of distinction between acts classified as 'Violence against Women' in their different types. This project deals in particular with the work carried out by Atención Immediata (Al)- being the first filter to register and take the claims that cometo the Centre. This tea m inputs the data into the storing system and as a result of its register the Planning and Monitoring Team (Equipo de Planificación, Monitoreo, Evaluación y Procuración de Fondos - PME-PF) extracts thé statistics with which the area of 'Sistematización e Incidencia Social' (ASI), puts together the briefing for subsequent publication. The published statistics and information bulletins are means to denounce and make public cases of violation of Human Right s, thus promoting and defending HH.RR. In this project we have linked the HH.RR. claims received by the Centre, doing a synthesised recategorisation of all registered themes and elaborating a specific Glossary of Violence against Women. The main conclusion is the need to homogenise criteria to establish case themes, thus reducing the subjectivity used by professionals and emphasizing the discipline in registering the data and valuing the potential uses of the tool as it is an extraordinary data collection resource.
