As a result of this observation GNM/SEB cave divers resumed their exploration of the cave, making new discoveries and carrying out associated works over the course of 55 days. A total of 5,580 m of new chambers and galleries were explored, providing a whole development of 8,600m, of which 6,385 m are underwater. Th e cave system has been divided into 6 sectors: the Coves del Pirata sector, the Cova des Pont sector, the Cova de sa Piqueta sector, the Manatí sector, the Tàrtar sector and the Terra Incògnita sector. Th e Coves del Pirata sector and the Cova des Pont sector share an underwater connection, while the unpublished Cova de sa Piqueta sector, Manatí sector, Tàrtar sector and Terra Incògnita sector form what is to all purposes a single interconnected underwater zone, totalling 5,700 m of development and 38,230 m² in area. Th ese diving and topographic tasks have made the Pirata-Pont-Piqueta System the third longest cave in the Balearic Islands. Exploratory research has further found that the deepest area of the Tàrtar sector is formed within Mesozoic limestone rocks, showing that speleogenesis has aff ected these basal materials along with those overlying calcarenites from the Upper Miocene. Important fossils of Miocene vertebrates, such as large cetaceans and sirenidae, have also been discovered. Th e CO₂ levels in air-fi lled chambers isolated by submerged galleries have been measured, in order to better understand the particular heterogeneous atmosphere of these spaces and its ability to exchange with the atmosphere outside. |

Gràcies a aquest fet es realitzen nous descobriments i tasques al llarg de 55 dies, per part dels espeleobussejadors del GNM/SEB. S’exploren 5.580 m de noves sales i galeries que situen el recorregut total del sistema en 8.600 m, dels quals 6.385 m són subaquàtics. La cavitat s’ha dividit en 6 sectors: sector de les Coves del Pirata, sector de la Cova des Pont, sector de la Cova de sa Piqueta, sector del Manatí, sector del Tàrtar i sector de la Terra Incògnita. El sector de les Coves del Pirata i el sector de la Cova des Pont tenen connexió subaquàtica entre sí, mentre que els inèdits sector de la Cova de sa Piqueta, sector del Manatí, sector del Tàrtar i sector de la Terra Incògnita formarien, a nivell pràctic, una unitat interconnectada sota les aigües (5.700 m de recorregut i 38.230 m2). El resultat d’aquestes comeses ha suposat situar el sistema Pirata-Pont-Piqueta en tercera posició de les cavitats de més recorregut de les Balears. Les recerques exploratòries també han permès observar que la zona més profunda del sector del Tàrtar s’ha format a partir de roques calcàries del mesozoic, per la qual cosa l’espeleogènesi es desenvolupa més enllà dels materials del miocè superior. També s’han descobert importants fòssils de vertebrats miocènics, com cetacis i sirènids de gran mida.
