| Sumario: | [eng] «If thou hast not a strawberry, feed on a leave.'Bites' of dor in the Romanian proverbs». The noun 'dor', widely represented in Romanian proverbs, comprises a vast semantic field, which fluctuates between nostalgia and desire, passing through love and pain. In this article, we will focus on the proverbs that connect this noun to certain food groups in the Romanian culture. In the first group, we will discuss three basic foods: bread, polenta and water. In the second section, we will examine two types of fruit: strawberries and cherries. Lastly, we will analyse other variety of foods (such as scrambled eggs, fish or hare) in order to have enough data for general conclusions, and seek to elucidate precisely how the multifaceted noun 'dor' is used in the field of nutrition. |
