This debate, which remains dominant in the Western world, has determined how the Church in the west understands herself. In this regard, the heritage of Russian Christian thought can offer an alternative vision that is deeply rooted in the Church’s tradition yet also surprisingly current. In this way, this article hopes to offer an account of the history of the Russian Orthodox Church and her understanding of the world after the two events that determined its recent history: the Local Council of the Russian Orthodox Church and the Russian Revolution of 1917.Después de una somera introducción al contexto histórico que llevó a la Iglesia Ortodoxa Rusa a convocar el <i>Sobor</i>, el Concilio de 1917, este trabajo expone el concepto <i>sobornost</i>’ de Aleksiey Khomiakov, situándolo en el contexto del debate Schmitt–Peterson. Este debate sigue determinando, en el mundo occidental, el modo de entender qué es la Iglesia. Respecto a él, la herencia del pensamiento cristiano ruso puede ofrecernos una visión alternativa, profundamente arraigada en la Tradición de la Iglesia y sorprendentemente actual. Se ofrece así una aproximación a la historia de la Iglesia Ortodoxa Rusa y, sobre todo, a su modo de entender el mundo cien años después de los dos acontecimientos que han determinado su historia reciente: el Concilio Local de la Iglesia Ortodoxa Rusa y la Revolución Rusa de 1917.Servicio de Publicaciones de la Universidad de NavarraDadun.
