I focus on the socio-economic benefits that flowed from the institution of hubs to the poor and destitute in al-Andalus between the 10th and 12th centuries. The task is, then, to determine in what way this institution affected those people whose economic resources were slender, who were involved in these kinds of foundations, and who benefited from what they received from them. Using information relating to donations for the poor and destitute of al-Andalus, I distinguish between the poor as primary beneficiaries of a pious legacy and the poor as first and last beneficiaries of a family endowment. Finally, I consider some aspects of the legal system that governed the institution of hubs in order to elucidate whether the donations for the needy exhibit particular characteristics.[ES] Este trabajo aborda las repercusiones socio-económicas que se derivaban de la institución del hubs para el colectivo constituido por los pobres e indigentes en al-Andalus durante el período comprendido entre los siglos X y XII. Se trata, pues, de determinar de qué forma esta institución afectó al estado de la gente de escasos recursos económicos, que estaba implicada en este tipo de fundaciones y en cuyo provecho revertían los ingresos de éstas.
