Descripción
Sumario:The present study explores the vicissitudes experienced by properties associated to pious endowments in Nasrid Granada during the transition from Islamic to Christian administration in order to verify their continuity and transformations. The author analyses the process by which these assets were assimilated into a new society following the Christian conquest and were transferred to Castilian institutions. Special attention is paid to the numerous donations which had been designated to benefit religious ends. This chapter also examines the impact of the new historical context on their legal status and internal functioning. Finally, “From aḥbas to habices” concludes with some hypotheses about their persistence over the following centuries and final destiny.
