| Resumo: | While (translation) technology and the language industry continue to evolve, varieties of professional profiles and nuances to the relevant skillsets emerge. The field of machine translation post-editing, and, in particular, research on the learnability of its skills, has become one important focus of attention. With an exploratory sequential mixed-methods design, this dissertation seeks to attain two goals. First, in the survey-research, the identification of errors, the decision-making, and the respect of guidelines are confirmed as core post-editing skills from an efficient editing standpoint. Second, in the experimental study based on a pretest-posttest method, we evaluate the treatment, that is, a proposal for a French-Spanish split-training course on the three mentioned skills. The data analyses indicate positive results from the quality perspective and suggest that longer practice is required to reach proceduralisation. |
