More than forty books of notable authorship and a strong medieval component will make up an original reference room presided over, in the words of its promoter, by «new ideas that have had nowhere to be imitated»[ES] Juan Manuel Manzano, archivero del duque de Frías, confecciona a finales del siglo xviii un completo Plan de Arreglo del Archivo General del Ducado. Entre las numerosas operaciones para su mejora propone la adquisición de un conjunto de libros que sirvan de ayuda para la composición y entendimiento del archivo señorial. Más de cuarenta libros, de autoría señalada y fuerte componente medieval, compondrán una original sala de referencia presidida en palabras de su promotor por «ideas nuevas que no han tenido de donde imitarse».Este artículo forma parte de los resultados del proyecto de I+D+i (PID2020-116104RB-I00) financiado por el MCIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011033/ y que dirijo en calidad de i. p.
