Sumario:[EN] The abundant extant documents from the archive of the Castilian noble House of Velasco are analyzed to study how the exercise of noble leadership depended upon the control of the production and circulation of script as an essential power tool. Specific emphasis is made upon the case of a mudéjar (Muslim) officer at the service of the lineage and his role in record-keeping and in the circulation of landed property within and in the entourage of the noble family. Two issues are addressed: firstly, how information was conceived and recorded; secondly, how that reflects the existence of a social landscape and memory shared by a variety of actors
