| Sumario: | This work is the result of a keen effort to collect and analyze material that sheds light on the definition of the intercultural mediator in Spain, determining their areas of activity and skills which have yet to be considered and defined in the health área in our country (Fernández-Rufete and Rigaudy, 2009:73, Navassa, Estevez and Serrano, 2009). In order to bring some clarity to these still diffuse areas, we have divided the article into several sections, corresponding to the different angles of the investigation. First, we present and detail a selection of criteria corpus, chosen from the relevant literature on the subject published between 2005 and 2011. We then present a detailed study of the papers collected in relation to our two main objectives: the intercultural mediator’s functions in the health area and the established skills and knowledge necessary to carry them out and fulfill them. |
