It specifi cally focuses on the methodological changes which the new credit system is bringing about in all those European universities which are piloting the ECTS in language studies. After contextualizing the study within the broader framework of the Project and specifying its objectives, procedure, sample, and statistical methodology, the article goes on to describe the main outcomes of the investigation for teachers and students. It concludes by foregrounding the main conclusions and suggesting future lines of action which are especially valuable for the implementation of new language degree programs across Europe. The ultimate goal is to improve the functioning of the ECTS system with a view to guaranteeing that the decisions taken in relation to the new offi cial university studies are based on empirical data and national and international referents.[ES] Este artículo presenta los resultados del primer estudio llevado a cabo en Europa acerca del proceso de adaptación de la enseñanza de lenguas al Espacio Europeo de Educación (Proyecto ADELEEES1, Programa de Estudios y Análisis, Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación). Concretamente, se centra en los cambios metodológicos que está conllevando el nuevo sistema europeo de créditos, según el profesorado y alumnado de todas las universidades europeas que están pilotando el ECTS en titulaciones lingüísticas. Tras contextualizar el estudio en el seno del Proyecto global y detallar sus objetivos, procedimiento, participantes y metodología estadística, se describen los resultados obtenidos para el profesorado y el alumnado y se comparan ambos colectivos. Se concluye extrayendo interesantes conclusiones y proponiendo futuras líneas de actuación que pueden resultar de gran utilidad en el proceso de implantación de los nuevos planes de estudio en la universidad española y europea.
