| Resumo: | Health professional training requires numerous efforts to deliver quality education and train professionals of excellence, in addition to complying with the accreditation processes regulated by the National Accreditation Commission (CNA). The main objective is to know the assessment made by the directors of the career of Obstetrics and Childcare of a traditional University of the Fifth Region and the tutors of the last year clinical practice, in relation to the process of linking the career and clinical fields. Due to the nature of the phenomenon to be studied, a mixed sequential research design has been chosen; integrating qualitative and quantitative methods, with an exploratory character. The main results allow observing both strengths and weaknesses in the existing linkage process. With speeches that are permeated by personal experiences and by the position held by each of the participants, a positive evaluation is evident on the part of the career managers; and, on the contrary, a more negative evaluation on the part of the clinical tutors, who are external to the career and mostly unaware of this process. It can be concluded that the process of linking the career and the clinical field requires systematic and coordinated work between both groups, which would allow a close relationship of mutual support to be maintained; this would contribute on the one hand to improving the training processes of future professionals, and on the other, to respond adequately to the requirements of the accreditation processes established by the CNA with respect to this criterion. |
