| Sumario: | The latest educational reforms in Chile have tried to respond to problems of social inequality and quality in the education system. The development of these initiatives has been driven primarily by pressure exerted from different social mobilizations in recent decades. In this scenario, ambitious and broad legal instruments have been promulgated to address educational problems, among which the General Education Law (2009) stands out, which declares to pursue the development of the different dimensions of human nature through of the cultivation of values. Chilean education has not been able to respond to problems of social inequality and quality education, showing according to statistics from MINEDUC (2016) a great weakening of public education. Against this background, this thesis investigates how the ethical and value dimensions declared in the law can be made responsible for an improvement in Chilean public education, through the analytical study of the regulations and the social representations of the respective participants. In this sense, the research involves two development focuses. One at a theoretical level that consists of the analysis of a philosophical matrix with Platonic metaphysical principles to clarify concepts involved in the law, specifically developing the concept of paideia, and another at an empirical level, which accounted for how subjects construct the axiological structures of the regulations declared in the law. This research is developed under the hermeneutical paradigm with a qualitative approach. Its study design is an instrumental case study and its participants are directive groups of schools in the city of Temuco. The data collection technique was the application of in-depth interviews and the documentary review of the educational projects. Among the main contributions of the research stands out the philosophical reading of the law in light of the idea of good, justice and ethical order, which allows to sustain a basis to develop an evaluative accompaniment of the values, in addition to the representation of the school as a space that, while trying to promote justice, is hampered by public policy that prioritizes the cultivation of mercantile values. |
