Sumario:This article aims to study the characters in the Dias’s family in the work O Santo Inquérito by Dias Gomes. The grandfather, the father and the daughter mark three generations of a jewish family in a historical context of adverse, with political-religious persecution. They become new christians. The article analyses the game of hide and ignory of jewish identity, as well as the ethno-religious position taken on each of three generations submitted to the power of Inquisition. The study investigates if there were signs of judaism cripto in characters in question, or if indeed occur a real conversion to Catholicism. Also notices if and how the knowledge-ignorance of the jewish traditions of Simão and Branca conflicts by the established authority.
