The aim of this work was to address the teaching of Portuguese, mother and non-maternal language, in basic education, in pedagogical practices aimed at building identities in a plural and globalized society. For this study, we opted for a qualitative methodology, through an exploratory research based on a literature review. We discuss the concept of identity in postmodernity, we relate the construction of identities to the existence of a pluricultural and multilingual society, we describe proposals for discursive practices in Portuguese classes that contribute to this construction and, finally, we reflect on them. The studies by Candau (2011, 2016), Hall (2006), Bakhtin (1997) and Rajagopalan (2003), among others, served as a theoretical foundation.A identidade de um sujeito é construída na interação com o outro, num constante processo dialógico. Buscou-se, neste trabalho, tratar do ensino de língua portuguesa, materna e não materna, na educação básica, em práticas pedagógicas que visassem à construção de identidades em uma sociedade plural e globalizada. Para este estudo, optamos pela metodologia qualitativa, por meio de uma pesquisa exploratória baseada em revisão bibliográfica. Discutimos o conceito de identidade na pós-modernidade, relacionamos a construção das identidades à existência de uma sociedade pluricultural e multilíngue, descrevemos propostas de práticas discursivas em aulas de Português que colaboram para essa construção e, por fim, refletimos sobre elas.
