| Sumario: | Does a translated work of fiction become a new work, or does it give the original work a new life in a new system of reception, in another culture? What is the boundary between creation and re-creation in a translational process? As the translator treads on paths that are similar to the ones on which the author has trodden, at what point does the translator renounce the role of a simple re-creator to become the very creator? The interaction between the translator and the author may be understood as a dialogue between the subjects of the creation process. These are the issues that I attempt to discuss in "Translation, Art, Dialogue." |
