Sumario:Aims: There are divergences in the literature on the effects of electrostimulation through the Russian current for the gain of muscular strength, the present study had as objective to evaluate the effect of this current, on the rectus femoris, evaluating the power and height of the vertical jump. Methods: We selected 32 participants, separated into two groups: Control or electrostimulated with Russian current 10 minutes daily, in three alternating days per week, during four weeks, totaling 12 interventions. Vertical jumps were assessed before intervention and another at the end of the four weeks of electrostimulation. The movements evaluated were Countermovement Jump and Squat Jump, were collected the height and power of the jump. Results: there was a significant gain for jump height only in the Squat Jump mode, both in the intra-group (p=0.0378) and in the groups (p=0.0122), favoring the electrostimulated group, but not for power or Countermovement Jump. Conclusion: the Russian current in the rectus femoris presented significant results only at the height of the Squat Jump.
