Descrição
Resumo:The article treats about the process of inserting women in one of the pioneering courses in the field of agricultural sciences, the Post-Graduate Program in Phytotechnics (PPG-FIT) at the Federal University of Viçosa (UFV), between the years 1961 and 2018. Nowadays, the presence of women occupies several social and professional spaces, very different from 50 years ago, which were occupied almost exclusively by men. If in the last decades we have witnessed the growing female empowerment in the most different human activities, the intention of this investigation is to analyze the presence of women in the knowledge field of agrarian sciences, more specifically within the scope of the Master's and Doctorate in Phytotechnics, where historically the predominance of mens remains one of its most outstanding characteristics. The information collected in the PPG-FIT Dissertations and Theses file and the institutional data extracted from the UFV Teaching Support System - SAPIENS, allowed to identify the age and gender of the students enrolled in the masters and doctorate courses, during the first fifty-seven years of activity of this Program, and to verify how these gender relations have been taking place, in terms of enrollment and qualifications, through the survey of percentage of enrollment and qualifications in master's courses since 1961 and doctorate, starting in 1973, until the year 2018, in order to find out to what degree and instances the advancement of the female presence in that stricto sensu graduate courses has been so markedly occupied by male gender.
