| Resumo: | This study confirms the frequency of infections in neutropenic patients and shows that bacteriological tests alone are not valuable as diagnostic toois in these instances. The great majority of infections is due to Gram negative germs. The author concludes that: there's straight dependence between ieucopeny and infection; age of patients is importante for prognostic evaiuation; the worst infection are those of pulmonary iocalization; prophylatic programs instituted before the neutropenic phase caused lower number of infections, as well as a decrease in the mortality figures; transfusions of leucocytes give a complement to antibioties. |
