Sumario:It is known that reading is essential for accessing knowledge and understanding the world around us. Literature, in turn, plays an equally significant role by contributing to the cultural and intellectual development of individuals and allowing us to reflect on human diversity through the social issues addressed in literary works. In schools, it is essential to promote literary reading as an integral part of students' overall development, going beyond the subjects of Portuguese Language and Literature. This article aims to explore the connection between literature and multidisciplinarity, highlighting the importance of promoting literary reading as a responsibility shared by various areas of knowledge. To achieve this, we have reviewed studies by authors such as Cândido (2004), Silva (2020), Mortatti (2018), and Martins (1997), among others. Therefore, we hope to contribute to the dissemination and appreciation of literary reading as an educational practice that combines multidisciplinary knowledge with the aesthetic appreciation of literary works.
