| Sumario: | This article aims to analyze the emergence of capoeira in cordel literature, found in Places of Memory of Salvador-BA. We seek to investigate how the cordéis approach this cut, which arguments they mobilize and the disputes they fight for a place in capoeira's memory. We intersect the knowledge of the conceptual categories of capoeira and places of memory, using cordel literature as a source. As a method, we used Documentary Research and studied 27 cordéis, finding four that deal with the topic. For analysis, we used the Content Analysis. In the cordéis produced in Brazilian lands, we found variants that propose different versions of its beginnings, which are presented as a place of dispute of the memory about the origin of capoeira. |
