Descripción
Sumario:The aim of this study was to evaluate and discuss the physical (architectural) accessibility of public schools in the municipality of Ladário - Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil. Seven primary schools took part in the research, which used the "Protocol for assessing accessibility in elementary school" as a data collection tool. The results showed that the schools are poorly adapted to receive students with physical disabilities, since architectural barriers were found that prevent or hinder access to all school environments. Therefore, despite the legislation advocating that the school should be an accessible environment, much still needs to be done to ensure that the right to accessibility is fully realized.
