Descripción
Sumario:This article aims to identify the applicability, benefits, and implications of ChatGPT, an Artificial Intelligence (AI) tool, in the field of education and academic research. Observational tests and an integrative review of the latest literature (2023) were conducted. The literature points out that ChatGPT can be applied in various teaching and learning contexts, stimulating autonomous student development and assisting teachers in their practices. In the medical field, the tool contributes to data categorization and improves communication with patients; in the dental field, updating the curriculum to include the use of AI tools is suggested, although it can produce different responses to the same question and indicate nonexistent references. Despite its flaws, we consider the use of the tool relevant for supporting teaching, learning, and scientific production practices, but this requires a critical and reflective discussion among students, teachers, and institutions to ensure academic integrity.
