Sumario:The hiring of outsourced services is an option for the garment industry in face of the market demand, given the seasonality in launching the collections. This study aims to identify the criteria that the company Rovitex Indústria e Comércio de Malhas Ltda. uses to select and hire outsourced companies. The relevance of the research is justified by recognizing this process as a strategy for business expansion, as well as a tool for improving the performance of the production sectors, thus leading the company to be more competitive and profitable. The research has a basic, qualitative and descriptive nature, with the contribution of theoretical references and field research, in which data were collected through the application of a questionnaire with the production engineering manager of the company. The results indicate that, in the period of the research (December 2020), there were 82 outsourced companies. The main criteria for admitting this type of collaboration were aspects related to the quality of the service provided, meeting delivery deadlines and the company's legal compliance.
