| Resumo: | A university extension experience in the area of Social Community Psychology, carried out in the rural environment involving children and adolescents living in a rural settlement is reported here. This settlement is composed by Peasants of the Landless Rural Workers Movement (the MST) from Campina Grande, State of Paraíba, Brazil. They mixed the Popular Education approach and other artistic languages together. The psycho-pedagogical workshops carried out with the children and the adolescents of the settlement had in mind stimulating their interest in reading, their critical thinking and social protagonism. Many artistic languages were pursued, among these, Augusto Boal’s method of the Theatre of the Oppressed. In this text, we report the workshops carried out with this group, which culminated with a theatre presentation for the community. The artistic languages represented a powerful resource to put the proposal in practice, according to the premises of the Popular Education method. |
