Resumo:The article deals with obesity in adults and aims to identify obesogenic habits related to weight gain and obesity in adults in the cities of Salvador, Mother of God, Feira de Santana and Valencia in the state of Bahia. Obesity is now considered worldwide as a public health problem, contributing to the increase in cardiovascular disease, hypertension, diabetes among other degenerative diseases. For this study a questionnaire was used for analysis of lifestyle and dietary habits of individuals in an age range of 18 to 60 years and calculated the Body Mass Index (BMI) of respondents. Considering that obesity is a risk factor for health of the population, needed more attention is a public health preventive measures aimed at stimulating, concluding that it is important the adoption of effective public policies to combat obesity who seek to introduce healthy habits in the population, implementing strategies that promote behavioral changes and introduce new food technologies, aimed at controlling the increase of overweight and obesity in the state of Bahia.
