Descrição
Resumo:Currently, the Uruguayan Criminal Code does not provide a specific title on environmental crimes, which regulates crimes whose protected legal asset is the environment. However, this reality could change in a few months if the Bill on environmental crimes is approved, which has been approved by the Senate. Outside the Penal Code there is a single environmental crime, in Section 9 of Law No. 17,220, of November 11, 1999, which regulates the introduction of hazardous wastes. In this article the author will analyze the concept of environmental crimes, its characteristics, and an analysis of the aforementioned Bill, providing the experiences of the author, as co-editor of the original version sent by the Executive Branch to the Parliament.
