The isolated and synthesized molecules were characterized by infrared and mass spectrometry. Analysis of antioxidant activity by DPPH yielded IC50 values of 8,77; 2,75; 8,35; 0,30 and 0,12 mg/ml for piperine, piperic acid, methyl piperate, ethyl piperate and isopropyl piperate, respectively. These results indicate a significant improvement in antioxidant activity over the starting product, piperine.El presente estudio tiene por objeto el desarrollo de nuevos candidatos a antioxidantes preparados mediante hemisíntesis a partir de la piperina aislada de los frutos de Piper nigrum. El primer derivado sintetizado fue el ácido pipérico, con un rendimiento del 2,55%. A partir de este último se obtuvieron: el piperato de metilo, piperato d1e etilo y piperato de isopropilo con rendimientos del 76,75 %; 88,93 % y 95,3 %, respectivamente. Las moléculas aisladas y sintetizadas fueron caracterizadas mediante infrarrojo y espectrometría de masas. El análisis de la actividad antioxidante mediante DPPH arrojó valores de IC50 de 8,77; 2,75; 8,35; 0,30 y 0,12 mg/ml para la piperina, ácido piperico, piperato de metilo, piperato de etilo y piperato de isopropilo, respectivamente.
