| Sumario: | ABSTRACT This article aims to analyze the psychometric properties of the Scale of Soledad de Jong Gierveld. The sample consists of 509 Peruvian youth and adults, 371 men and 138 women of Lima, with an average age of 21.42 years. The results show that the descriptive analysis, based on the skewness and kurtosis, provided information for the detection of non-normality of the data. Also, the scale of loneliness evidence adequate reliability (ω = .83). Exploratory factor analysis revealed the existence of a single factor, which was not confirmed by confirmatory factor analysis which indicated that the items to a model of two related factors, the structure has acceptable goodness of fit.
