The change of place of residence is caused by economic aspects, natural disasters, wars, among others. The present study is framed in this context and addresses South Korean migration to Nuevo León in a particular way. From a quantitative methodological perspective, an estimate of the natives of South Korea residing in Nevo León during the period 2008-2018 is made by, using the records of the National Institute of Migration. The result allows us to compare the data with the imaginary created in the local media about the South Korean migrants who arrived after the arrival of the company KIA Motors.La migración internacional es uno de los fenómenos sociales de mayor visibilidad en décadas recientes, los medios de comunicación contribuyen a ello, en tanto los medios de trasporte facilitan la movilidad diluyendo las distancias. El cambio de lugar de residencia es provocado por aspectos económicos, desastres naturales, guerras, entre otros, el presente estudio se enmarca en este contexto y aborda de manera particular la migración surcoreana a Nuevo León.  Desde una perspectiva metodológica cuantitativa, se realiza una estimación de las personas migrantes de Corea del Sur residentes en Nevo León durante el periodo 2008-2018, utilizando los registros del Instituto Nacional de Migración.
