| Sumario: | The aim of this paper is to describe the strategies that the different authors of the four Colonial Tének documents followed to translate terms and concepts from Spanish to Tének. The translated concepts and referents were new for indigenous people and hence the need to find a way to name them; some of these terms were adapted as loanwords in Tének and a few of them are still in use. Some others did no transcend to the recipient language through time. Using the theoretical-methodological principles of Indomexican philology, I am interested in highlighting the relevance of crossing internal and external criteria that underlie the translation of those concepts and referents. |
